Building the communications engine behind a 1,000+ builder Ethereum ecosystem event
ETHWarsaw is one of Europe's major Ethereum conferences, bringing together 1,000+ builders, protocol teams, sponsors, and the wider Web3 ecosystem.
At that scale, communications couldn't simply promote a conference. It needed to give developers and ecosystem partners a reason to participate, contribute, and keep talking about the event.
The challenge
ETHWarsaw had a growing ecosystem of builders, sponsors, partners, and community members.
The challenge was to turn that ecosystem into a coherent communications and content strategy that could increase engagement, strengthen partner visibility, and ultimately drive ticket sales.
What I did
- Communications & Content Strategy
Built the communications strategy around developers, sponsors, and the wider Ethereum ecosystem across X, LinkedIn, Telegram, and other channels. - Community Growth
Increased community engagement by 60%, contributing to a 35% increase in ticket sales. - Media & KOL Strategy
Attracted key opinion leaders for media support and created 15 articles that increased partner brand visibility by 50%. - Owned Media
Launched the Mermaid's Gossip newsletter, reaching a 63% open rate and 15% monthly growth. - AI & Developer Campaigns
Led the promotional campaign for the Crypto*AI Spring Hackathon, focused on AI agent development. - Ambassador Strategy
Launched an Ambassadors Program with members from organizations including Google and Centrifuge, increasing ETHWarsaw's social media visibility by 15%. - Ecosystem & Side Events
Co-organized side events focused on product building, extending the conference experience beyond the main stage.
Results
- 1,000+ builders at the conference
- 60% increase in community engagement
- 35% increase in ticket sales
- 50% increase in partner brand visibility
- 63% newsletter open rate
- 15% monthly newsletter growth
- 15% increase in social media visibility
- 15 partner-focused articles
- Ambassador program involving members from leading technology organizations
The takeaway
For a technical event, communications isn't just about filling seats.
It's about understanding the ecosystem well enough to give builders, sponsors, partners, and communities different reasons to care, while making the whole thing feel like one coherent movement.
